Recently I found out the Church session received a request from our Pastor to reduce his pay by $1,500 and instead make a payment to his son's college notating that the money donated was to go to the school's scholarship fund in his son's name.
The school matched it dollar for dollar and a total of $3,000 was given towards his son's tuition.
I objected to this for a couple of reasons.
First our Church budget had no approved expense account for the college and his son.
Two the Pastor used the Church to enrich his family.
Apparently the school said this is how they would match the donation dollar for dollar if the payment came from the Church only and not the father.
