Question regarding love offering:

Once a month we have musician come play at our church. Is my love offering made payable to the church tax deductible?

If your contribution was designated for that individual, your contribution would not be tax-deductible.

The answer to both situations would be yes. The love offerings would be taxable based on one very important thing...they would both be for a service rendered.

say if a speaker comes to the church and has not asked for money to do so but the pastor takes up a love offering does the speaker claim that money as taxable income?
