I have just started the financial reporting at a church. The pastor receives a salary and housing allowance that is reported on the W-2. Taxes are reported on the 941 for this amount. However, the pastor also receives a weekly amount of love offerings (known amount), and a large lump sum of money at the end of the year that the church has collected throughout the year(unknown amount). Additionally, the church puts $1000/mo into an annuity for the pastor but at the end of the year writes him a check from the checking account for $12,000 for his retirement. Should this money be reported on his W-2 and should we be withholding taxes on it?
